Mission to Guatemala

Barbara M. Rubin travelled to Guatemala as the guest of CARE and eWomenNetwork. The purpose of the trip was to encourage cultural and economic exchanges between American and Guatemalan business women.

David Tenzer served as moderator for An Evening with Agents! presented by the International Documentary Association on September 24th.

David Tenzer was a panelist on Association of Media and Entertainment Counsel (AMEC) panels in Los Angeles and New York in June and July. The panels covered Television in the BRIC Countries—Tenzer offered up expertise on business in India.

 

Dose of Reality

Barbara M. Rubin and Jody Simon served as moderators at a seminar titled Surviving the Television Reality Game presented by the Association of Media & Entertainment Counsel in association with PR&S. The panel addressed production challenges of reality shows. Jody Simon went on to moderate the same seminar in New York.

 

Advertising Roundtable

Arnold Peter participated in a roundtable dinner with top advertising executives featuring John Nogawski, President and COO of CBS Television Distribution and Trevor Kaufman, CEO of Schematic. Topics covered included: Are traditional media companies creating the best advertising platforms in the digital world? Are advertisers getting enough “bang for their buck” in both traditional and new media advertising channels? How effective are the new media channels and how can they be measured?

 

Ethical Debate

Arnold Peter moderated a panel on ethical concerns for in-house counsel at the 2007 National Asian Pacific Bar Association’s annual conference. Panellists included the general counsel of BBC America and senior counsel from the University of Southern California.

ABC has ordered an 11th cycle of the hit series “Dancing with the Stars,” produced by Jody Simon client BBC Worldwide Productions.

 

HolLYWOOD HISTORY SCORES FOR SYFY
In its first year of existence, Shevick*Zupon Productions received an firm order for “Hunting Hollywood,” a documentary style show that focuses on the collecting of pop culture memorabilia, including sci-fi props and costumes. Shevick*Zupon is a client of Jody Simon.

 

"Event"-ful Year for PRS Client
NBC announced that it has picked up "The Event" for its Fall, 2010 schedule. The pilot was written by Barbara Rubin client Nick Wauters.

 

PR&S Honored For Public Service By South Asian Bar Association
The SABA-SC Public Interest Foundation recently honored Peter Rubin & Simon for its commitment to public service and its pro bono activities Arnold Peter accepted the award on behalf of the entire firm which was in attendance. The organization also honored Sonal Ambegaokar, a health policy attorney at the National Immigration Law Center. The keynote speaker was Dean Erwin Chemerinsky of UCI School of Law. The proceeds from the Awards Banquet go directly to funding community organizations and grants to law students who work in public interest, particularly causes that benefit the South Asian community in Southern California.
